Memphis Teaching Fellows Overview

Memphis Teaching Fellows is an opportunity for motivated, high-achieving professionals and recent college graduates from all backgrounds to revitalize the Memphis education system by becoming teachers with Memphis City Schools. This highly selective program is a Memphis City Schools initiative to place talented and passionate individuals in math, English as a Second Language (ESL), Spanish and special education classrooms. No teaching or education experience is required to apply for Memphis Teaching Fellows. Fellows will attend a rigorous pre-service training institute this summer and begin teaching full-time fall 2008 while simultaneously earning a Tennessee teaching license.

This is a chance to be a leader in the community and positively impact the academic achievement of our city’s students. Fellows will bring their knowledge, experience, and records of success to Memphis classrooms.

By teaching in critical subject shortage areas in high need schools, Fellows will open new doors for their students and give them a greater chance of being successful in life.

Memphis Teaching Fellows will benefit from a streamlined application and selection process and if selected, will pursue their teaching license while receiving a full-time teacher’s salary and benefits.

Memphis Teaching Fellows is committed to leading the movement to improve the Memphis education system and ensuring success for all students. We are looking for outstanding candidates for positions in math, ESL, Spanish, and special education. Final Application Deadline: Monday, March 17th. Apply now.
