Memphis Teaching Fellows Overview
Memphis Teaching Fellows is an opportunity for motivated, high-achieving professionals and recent college graduates from all backgrounds to contribute their talents toward closing the achievement gap by becoming highly effective teachers with Memphis City Schools. This highly selective program is an MCS initiative to place talented and passionate individuals in math, middle school subjects (including language arts, science, math and social studies), foreign languages, chemistry and special education classrooms. No teaching or education experience is required to apply for Memphis Teaching Fellows.
In preparation for entering the classroom, Fellows attend a rigorous pre-service training institute in June/July and begin teaching full-time (with full pay and benefits) in the fall, while simultaneously earning a Tennessee teaching license.
MTF offers Fellows the chance to become a leader in the community and improve the academic outcomes of our city’s students. Fellows will bring their knowledge, experience and records of success to Memphis classrooms.
By teaching in critical subject shortage areas in high need schools, Fellows will open new doors for their students and give them a greater chance of being successful in life.
Memphis Teaching Fellows is committed to leading the movement to improve student achievement by recruiting top-performing professionals and recent graduates. We are looking for outstanding candidates for positions in math, middle school, foreign languages, chemistry, and special education. Apply now.
If you are currently certified or enrolled in a certification program, you are not eligible to apply. Certified teachers are strongly encouraged to contact the Office of Strategic Teacher Recruitment and Staffing at Memphis City Schools Office at info@teachmemphis.org or 901-416-9905.
