Memphis Teaching Fellows (MTF) is seeking applicants who realize that one teacher's influence can change the possibilities for numerous students. Our Fellows will have the drive to go above and beyond all expectations for both themselves and their students.
MTF recruits, selects, and trains talented and successful individuals to contribute their talents to improving academic and life outcomes for the students of Memphis. Through this program, you will have the opportunity to jump-start a powerful career as a highly effective Memphis City Schools (MCS) educator. As a Fellow, you will be able to teach full-time in your own classroom, earn a salary, and pursue your Tennessee teacher certification.
In fall 2011, up to 115 Fellows will enter their math, middle school (including science, math, language arts, social studies), Spanish and other foreign language, Chemistry, and special education classrooms and be part of the national education reform movement that will provide Memphis City Schools students with the skills they need to be successful members of the Memphis community.. Although new to teaching, Fellows will be prepared and dedicated to setting ambitious goals and ensuring high academic success for all their students.
As MCS employees, Fellows will earn the same salary and benefits as other beginning teachers in the district. Fellows will also have access to full benefits including health, vision, dental, and retirement plans.
