Be The Difference
Memphis Teaching Fellows (MTF) is looking for applicants who realize that one teacher's influence can change the possibilities for numerous students. Our participants will have the drive to go above and beyond all expectations for both themselves and their students.
MTF recruits, selects, and trains the most talented and successful individuals to revitalize the education network and communities of Memphis. Through this program, you will have the opportunity to jump-start a powerful career as a Memphis City Schools (MCS) educator. As a Fellow, you will have the unique opportunity to teach full-time in your own classroom, earn a salary, and pursue your Tennessee teacher certification.
In fall 2008 up to fifty Fellows will enter their math, ESL, Spanish and special education classrooms and be part of the revitalization campaign that will provide Memphis City Schools students with the skills they need to make a significant impact on the world. Although new to teaching, Fellows will be prepared and dedicated to setting ambitious goals and ensuring high academic success for all their students.
As MCS employees, Fellows will earn the same salary and benefits as other beginning teachers in the district. Fellows will also have access to full benefits including health, vision, dental, and retirement plans. As a participant in MTF, Fellows will also be eligible for the AmeriCorps Education Awards Program. The AmeriCorps award will be issued Fall 2009.
