Memphis Teaching Fellows is seeking individuals with strong records of achievement from varying backgrounds. We want applicants who share Memphis City Schools’ belief that the academic performance of our students can and must be improved, and the achievement gaps can and must be eliminated. We are looking for candidates who believe that MCS can become an internationally competitive urban school system that produces well-rounded, high-achieving students.
If you have the skills and desire to teach secondary math, middle school math, science, language arts or social studies, chemistry, Spanish or other foreign languages, or special education and you are committed to being the difference in Memphis City Schools, we encourage you to apply.
Career Changers
You chose a different path and along the way acquired valuable skills that led you to set and achieve ambitious goals. Perhaps you are seeking a new challenge or want a more meaningful career that directly affects your community. Though you may not have experience in the classroom, you most likely know more about teaching than you realize. The best teachers are those who use their diverse experiences, knowledge, and achievements to affect the lives of students in positive ways. There is no equation or formula for what makes a good teacher. Even though you may not have a background in education, you have many unique and applicable skills to bring to the classroom. Whether your skills are focused on corporate management, the performing arts, data computations, or raising a family, you can use your past experiences and success to make a noticeable impact.
Recent College Graduates
The Memphis Teaching Fellows program is an extraordinary and challenging opportunity for top-notch graduating seniors and recent college graduates from all academic majors and backgrounds.
You may be a great fit for the Fellowship if you answer yes to any of the following:
Have you always wanted to be a teacher but didn’t major in education and thought you missed your opportunity?
-
Were you a leader on campus and want to continue to lead after your graduation?
-
Did you major in economics or have an affinity for math and want to use your math background to make a difference where it matters most?
-
Are you ready to take on more challenges and responsibilities?
Applying to the Memphis Teaching Fellows program is your chance to join a competitive Fellowship of talented individuals who have made the choice to give back, to lead, and to learn by becoming highly effective teachers who will ensure the success of Memphis' public schools.
